Such a Fun Age is a 2020 novel by Kiley Reid. The novel follows Emira Tucker, a young black woman who is babysitting for Briar, the white daughter of her white employer, Alix Chamberlain. One night, Emira is called to Alix's house after Briar accidentally breaks a window. Alix asks Emira to take Briar to the grocery store to keep her away from the police, who have been called to the scene. While at the grocery store, Emira is confronted by a white woman who accuses her of kidnapping Briar. The incident goes viral, and Emira finds herself at the center of a media firestorm. Such a Fun Age explores themes of race, class, and privilege in contemporary America. The novel was a critical success, and it was named a New York Times Notable Book and a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction.
